This project is designed to reduce plastic waste across the Municipality of Dropull by integrating education, eco-friendly practices, and community engagement. It targets three key areas: schools, tourism, and community participation, aiming to create a sustainable model for waste reduction.
In schools, the project will introduce an eco-friendly curriculum and conduct workshops for students and educators to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of plastic pollution.
Practical actions, such as replacing single-use plastics with reusable materials and implementing waste separation practices, will help create long-term behavioral change among students and teachers.
In the tourism sector, the initiative foises on collaborating with local businesses and tourist operators to promote sustainable practices. Training sessions and workshops will help these stakeholders transition to eco-friendly solutions, such as eliminating single-use plastics in tourist hotspots, including the “Gjirokastra Pass” and Byzantine churches. These efforts will not only reduce waste but also enhance the region’s appeal to environmentally conscious travelers.
Additionally, the project will establish basic infrastructure, such as waste collection points, to support sustainable waste management practices.
