Byblos Community Recycling
HEAD wanted to create a low-tech recycling workshop inspired by the Precious Plastic Project, with the aim of manufacturing and selling useful items made from plastic waste to self-finance the project. Awareness campaigns were also planned to inform the public about plastic pollution.
Main results of the project:
- Installation of a collection station in a municipal warehouse in Byblos despite initial difficulties.
- Organisation of online awareness campaigns targeting scouts, schools and local communities, as well as clean-up operations, particularly during World Clean Up Day.
- Acquisition and commissioning of a low-tech recycling machine, presented at online events.
- Establishment of partnerships with municipalities, schools, supermarkets and the local community for the collection of plastic materials via several collection points.
