Despite numerous awareness campaigns, plastic remains widely used in households, with most people unwilling or unable to separate it for recycling or switch to eco-friendly alternatives. This is due to a lack of collection and management infrastructure, as well as long-established daily habits of plastic use.
The project aims to address plastic waste in Vlora by promoting source separation of plastic waste through the support of its social business “A Window of Care”. Women employed in the social business, providing cleaning services to households and businesses, will guide their clients to separate plastic waste from other waste and adopt sustainable waste management practices.
One of the main activities of the project includes the awareness campaigns in local and social media through animated educational, to spread the message to a wider audience.
Part of this initiative is also replacing industrial plastic cleaning products with environmentally friendly alternatives, such as the loofah herbal sponge. This includes using natural products and demonstrating their benefits for the families and businesses where the women employed by Social Business work. This will be followed by an awareness campaign on social media about sustainable cleaning practices.
By integrating education, hands-on practice, and media outreach, Green Vision aims to drive a long-term change in the way Vlora deals with plastic waste, ultimately contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
