Ulcinj and Velika plaža are very important tourism destination in Montenegro. Single-use plastic and waste management is becoming every year a bigger problem. This project aims to raise awareness and change behaviour in regard to the single-use plastic, with the focus on several groups: school children, tourists and institutions.

  • Educational programme, including visits of landfills and lectures, will be implemented in schools to change children’s behaviour toward the use of single-use plastic.
  • Awareness-raising campaigns for tourists and visitors will be organized. Clean-up days on beaches and presentations of the consequences of the plastic use will be done.
  • A map, presenting the problem of waste management on the beaches will be shared with local and national administrations to initiate a discussion about possible joint activities of all parties to improve waste management.

All along the project, a communication campaign will be done through media and social networks in order to influence the public behaviour regarding single plastic use.
