This project aims to raise awareness and commitment among stakeholders in the agricultural sector to promote and implement traditional alternatives to plastic in Albanian agriculture. To achieve these objectives, the initiative will be broken down into three main areas:
Main results of the project:
The project organised between seven and ten awareness-raising workshops for farmers and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, bringing together a total of around 200 participants. These workshops aimed to provide information on the impact of plastic and encourage the transition to more sustainable alternatives, such as replacing plastic greenhouse sheeting with glass or using natural fibre bags for crops.
The participation of representatives from the Agricultural Development Agency in these workshops enabled the reduction of plastic to be included in the funding criteria for the European IPARD programme. More than 12 farms have received grants to replace plastic in their greenhouses with glass.
