With this second project supported by BeMed, Zibel wants to recycle marine debris collected in the environment while raising awareness among the general public.
The project starts with the collection of waste in a dozen coastal sites inaccessible by foot. The goal of this approach is to show the government and the population that plastic pollution is everywhere, even in isolated places.
The collected macro and microplastic debris will then be characterized and the results shared with the municipalities. The microplastics will be reused in educational awareness kits distributed in schools. The macro-waste will be recycled or sent to landfill.
