Abstract

Like any event, sports generate plastic waste, but they can also set an example to change social norms and practices.

Trail race organizers, committed sports federations, event organizers… many of them have incorporated the reduction of single-use plastics—particularly bottles—into their practices.

In line with the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games, and following a survey of federations and event organizers, No Plastic In My Sea has published a guide compiling the best best practices for reducing single-use plastics in sports.

This guide is intended for organizers of sports activities, whether they are one-off events—national or international—competitions, regular training sessions, or camps. It also supports gyms, clubs, associations, professional organizations, and local authorities that oversee or host sports activities. It complements the Ministry of Sports’ charter of 15 eco-responsible commitments.

This guide and the infographic are currently only available in French. Please contact us by email if you are interested in a translation into English or another language.
